Founded by Mirza Husayn-‘Ali (titled Bahá'u'lláh) in 1863, the Bahá'í faith is the latest in the line of world religions sent by God to educate the spirit of Mankind.
Baha’u’llah was born, on 12 November 1817 in Tihran the capital of Persia to a noble family. His father was a distinguished nobleman and a minister in the court of the King. From very early age Baha’u’llah manifested special qualities that distinguished him from all those around him. By the time he was a young man he had become famed amongst His countrymen for His detachment from worldly trappings, His innate wisdom and extraordinary ability to solve complex and difficult problems, and His generosity to the poor.
Bahá'u'lláh taught that God intervenes throughout human history at different times to reveal more of himself through his messengers (called Divine Messengers, or Manifestations of God). This is called progressive revelation and is central in accepting all religions as having true and valid origins.
Bahá'ís believe that Bahá'u'lláh is the most recent Manifestation of God.
The main theme of Baha’u’llah’s message is Unity, unity of God, unity of religions and unity of Mankind. Bahá'u'lláh taught that people should work together for the common benefit of humanity.
There are 6 million Bahá'ís who live in 235 countries around the world. There are around 6,000 Bahá’ís live in Britain and around 25 Bahá’ís live locally in Nuneaton.
